李在明氏「韓国政府による北への “水害支援”提案を歓迎」…「平和回復の第一歩」
Lee Jae-myung: ”We welcome the South Korean government's proposal to provide flood relief to the North”... ”The first step to restoring peace”
Lee Jae-myung, former leader of the opposition Democratic Party of Korea, said he "welcomes the government's proposal" to provide assistance for the recovery efforts following the flooding in North Korea.
On the 2nd, Lee said on Fei's blog, "The government proposed humanitarian assistance for the flood damage in North Korea. Above all, it is a government that is trying to resolve the complete blockade in inter-Korean relations.
"We welcome the government's proposal," it said, adding, "Restoring the severed dialogue and communication channels between the North and the South will be the first step toward restoring peace."
He continued, "Peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula are immutable values," and "In light of this incident, the government will take measures to avoid military conflict."
"We must proactively take on crisis management," he said. He also warned the North Korean authorities, "No problem can be solved by a 'strong against strong' confrontation through military provocations.
"We hope that they will accept our government's humanitarian aid and come to the table for dialogue and diplomacy."
