Mayor of Changwon, South Korea, ”visits Japan” including Roppongi Hills
Mayor Hong Nam-pyo of Changwon City, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea, and Changwon City Council Chairman Song Tae-hwa visited Minato Mirai from the 30th for a three-day, two-night trip.
He visited I21, Roppongi Hills, Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, etc. This visit to Japan was initiated by Chairman Song (then a city council member) during a question and answer session at the Changwon City Council plenary session on June 20th of this year, in response to a request from the Masan Marine
This was made possible when Mayor Hong accepted a proposal to inspect the Roppongi example in order to proactively respond to issues such as the development of new cities and the hollowing out of urban centers.
To integrate best practices in port and compact city development into urban regeneration, the Changwon delegation first visited Minato Mirai, Yokohama.
We visited Rai 21. Next we visited Roppongi Hills, a comprehensive development project that integrates residential, industrial, cultural and office spaces.
Mayor Hong said, "Through this visit to Yokohama and Roppongi Hills, we hope to restore the public nature of Masan and Jinhae Bay, which have sea but no beach, and to find solutions to urban regeneration."
We shared the law,” he said.
