The main opposition Democratic Party of Korea announced that it had begun a filibuster against the Civil Livelihood Recovery Subsidy Act on the afternoon of the 1st.
The Diet forced the session to a close in 24 hours and 41 minutes (interrupting the proceedings of the Diet), and introduced the Civilian Recovery Assistance Fund Bill, which was passed with 186 votes in favor and 1 vote against out of the 187 members present.
Lawmakers from the ruling People's Power Party walked out immediately after the vote, which began after a filibuster, and were absent from the vote on the Civilian Recovery Assistance Bill.
Meanwhile, on the 2nd, the South Korean presidential office stated that the aid law "has little effect compared to the financial resources it provides" and "also violates the constitutional separation of powers."
