South Korea's defense minister ”welcomes” Germany's joining ”United Nations Command”
South Korean Defense Minister Shin Won-sik held a South Korean-German defense ministerial meeting with his German counterpart Boris Pistorius at the Ministry of National Defense in Seoul on the morning of the 2nd.
Minister Shin emphasized that Germany is a traditional friendly country that sent medical support teams after the Korean War and made a significant contribution to Korea's postwar reconstruction.
"I hope that the relationship between our two countries, which share common values such as civil rights, the rule of law, and liberal democracy, will develop even further," said Minister Shin.
He welcomed the successful completion of Germany's accession procedures to the United Nations Command and expressed gratitude for Germany's willingness to contribute to maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
Subsequently, Germany's accession to the United Nations Command led to South Korea and the UN Command working together to ensure peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
The two defense ministers positively evaluated the fact that the ROK has gained a new partner for maintaining its military might and jointly responding to the threat posed by North Korea.
They also agreed to strengthen solidarity and cooperation between the ROK and member states of the United Nations Command, including by holding regular meetings of defense ministers of the two countries.
