Following the shocking incident of a man wielding a 120cm Japanese sword and killing his neighbor in an apartment in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, South Korea, a case has now been reported in Chu, Gangwon-do.
A man was arrested in Chuncheon brandishing a 50cm-long jungle knife. Chuncheon Police Station announced on the 1st that they had arrested A (61) on suspicion of special intimidation and were currently investigating.
A is suspected of threatening his neighbor B, in his 70s, by brandishing a 50-centimeter-long jungle sword at around 8:39 a.m. the previous day in a rest area of an apartment building in Hopyeong-dong, Chuncheon.
The jungle knife is used for cutting trees in jungles and forests, and is also called a "wood cutting knife." The investigation revealed that A was an ashtray shared by residents in the apartment building's rest area.
It was revealed that A committed the crime because he was angry that B had cleaned up the mess. Police arrested A on the spot at around 9:00 a.m. on the same day, 20 minutes after the accident. Fortunately, no one was injured.
The police have confiscated the jungle knife and have applied for an arrest warrant for A.
