[Exclusive Interview] Solo singer Lim Young Min talks about his new song ”LOVE?” and his charms... What is the significance of the apple that appears in the music video?

Korean singer Lim Young Min is currently busy with live performances in Tokyo following her Osaka performance at the end of July with her new song "LOVE?", spending precious time with her fans.
He accepted an interview with wowKorea. Q. Please introduce yourself again to the wowKorea viewers.
This is my first time speaking as a solo artist on wowKorea. My name is Lim Young Min.
Q. Congratulations on the release of your new song! Please give us a brief introduction to your new song "LOVE ?"
With this new song, "LOVE?", I wanted to express the feelings that many people have when they think about love.
The lyrics are about whether love is good or bad, and many people can relate to them, so I hope you will listen carefully to the lyrics. Q.
I heard that you participated in writing the lyrics for all the songs on this album. They are songs about painful love, so why did you decide to write lyrics with such a content?
Also, is there a part you want people to focus on? The song "LOVE?" has a sad feel to it, but it's about worrying about feelings of love.
I thought that these emotions evoke various complex emotions, like wanting to do something when you're not doing it, but not wanting to do it when you are, so I gave a lot of thought to these aspects while creating the song.
The album deals with the concept of love, and the other songs on the record also contain various emotions related to love.
The first song, "Me," expresses the feeling of doubt within the emotion of love. The second song, "Nowhere," expresses the emotion of lovers who want to be together when they are apart.
It expresses the feeling that even if we are far apart physically, our hearts are with you. Finally, the song "Romantic" expresses the fresh and romantic feeling of falling in love to the fullest.
In this way, the album is filled with the various emotions of love. Q. There is a scene in the music video where Youngmin is biting into an apple.
But does the apple have any meaning? In the fairy tale "Snow White," there is an apple. The witch gave the apple to Snow White as if it was a delicious apple.
In fact, it was a poisonous apple. Using this as a motif, the emotion of love seems very good, but in reality, it is unclear whether the apple is poisonous or delicious.
Also, in "Snow White," there is a part where the witch looks into the mirror and asks, "Mirror, mirror, who is the fairest in the world?" Using this as a motif, I asked the mirror, "I don't know what love is.
"I don't know what love is, but do you know?" is what the video shows. So, I thought of my fans as a mirror,
I did it in a way that made it seem like I was asking the fans. Q. Is there any memorable episode from the release of the new song?
Please tell us about any memorable episodes that occurred during the music video shoot or recording.
It's hard to say it's impressive, but I did prepare something for this music video shoot.
I haven't really been on a diet before, but this time the album itself is about decadent beauty.
It's an album that is full of decadence, so I worked hard on my diet because I wanted to show that decadent side of myself that can only be achieved by losing weight.
I walked 18,000 steps a day for a month straight, and while preparing for this album, I felt like I was doing more than singing.
I remember that they worked hard on it. However, the disappointing part was that they were doing behind-the-scenes footage to show the fans in between filming the music video, and I wanted to show them some interesting elements.
However, since it was a solo shoot, there was a time limit and it was difficult to get behind-the-scenes footage, so it was unfortunate that I couldn't show you that side of me.
-Was the diet difficult?
I've never really tried to diet seriously before, but this time I definitely
I thought I'd give it a try, but it was really hard. Fortunately, I don't have much of an appetite. But even so, it was a bit hard. Q.
Youngmin has many charms, but if you had to pick one thing that is your greatest charm, what would it be?
Actually, I always clash with my fans about cuteness and sexiness, but I think it's sexiness.
My fans say it's my cuteness. I like being sexy and I try to show it off, but it seems like my fans like my cuteness even more.
I think I'm cuter than Sea, but I think I can appeal to her more, so I'll admit it honestly. Compared to my size, my fans say I'm cute, so I think I have some charm points that I can appeal to her.
Q. I know you are interested in fashion, but are there any items or things that you are always paying attention to these days?
Recently, I've been focusing on shoes and wearing shoes that are a little bigger. I wear shoes with larger designs or shoes that are bigger than my size. Recently, I like larger pants because of the fashion trend.
I like wearing those pants and big shoes that make my feet look as big as Mickey Mouse's, and I think wearing big shoes is my latest fashion point.
I think so. -Is there a particular design that you like? Among the shoes I wore the most were ones that were designed exactly like Mickey Mouse's feet. "The shoes were ridiculously big for you.
There are shoes that are so big that they look like Mickey Mouse's feet, and I've been liking designs like that lately. Q.
You came to Japan for the first time in a while, but what were your expectations and concerns?
Before coming here, I tried hard to study Japanese, but I was self-taught, so when I tried to use it, I had trouble knowing if it was correct or not.
I was worried. I love Japanese food, so I was looking forward to it while thinking about eating a lot of different things. -Is there a Japanese food that you particularly like?
The thing I ate most often was yakiniku. I feel like I eat because of the atmosphere. I love that atmosphere, and I love eating yakiniku in Japan. I've only just arrived in Japan, but I've already been there about three times.
Q. Are there any memorable Japanese words that you learned for your Japanese fans, or that you learned from your fans?
When I came to Japan recently, a fan taught me the word "genius," and when I came here this time, I used that word again.
I remembered that word. That word is the most memorable one that the fans taught me. The word I learned recently is "for example." The reason is that when I came here the other day, I heard a Japanese song
I did a cover song of a song by Kenshi Yonezu, and one of them was "LADY." The song had the lyric "For example," and I started to remember that word.
- When you study Japanese by yourself, what do you study? My friends who are good at Japanese tell me not to do that, but I like Japanese anime, so I watch Japanese anime.
My friends tell me to watch more movies and TV series to study because if I do that, my speaking will become like that of an anime character, but I love Japanese anime and I want to learn more about anime.
I watch a lot and learn a lot. -Have you found any interesting anime recently? Recently, I have been watching the new "Demon Slayer" with great interest. Among the basketball-related anime, I like "Slam Dunk."
It's not "Dunk", but I forget the title... I'm enjoying watching that anime too. In general, I seem to be watching all the Japanese anime that have come out recently.
Q. What are your future plans and the direction you plan to pursue?
I hope that after my second solo album is released, I will be able to show my true colors in Japan.
I'm currently preparing my next album, but the first and second albums had a lot of songs with a dark atmosphere. I'm preparing a refreshing and bright album for my next album.
So, I think you can look forward to that aspect a little. --So, there are a lot of things that the fans are hoping to see you do, right? Yes, that's right.
Because in the first and second albums I did what I wanted to do, and now I'm preparing the musical style that my fans want, so please look forward to it.
