The total number of heat stroke patients increased to 1,810. The number of deaths presumed to be from heat stroke increased by three to a total of 17, but the additional three were later reported as having heat stroke or were later diagnosed through autopsy.
Of the 1,810 heat stroke patients, 1,397 (77.2%) were men and 413 were women. By age group, 342 (18.9%) were between 50 and 59 years old.
The largest number of cases were in the 60-69 age group, followed by 320 people (17.7%) and 247 people (13.6%) in the 40-49 age group. 79.5% of heat stroke cases occurred outdoors. Of the cases outdoors, 52 were in outdoor workplaces.
The most common time of day was between 3pm and 4pm with 206 people (11.4%), followed by between 2pm and 3pm with 18 people (14.2%), and then again between 4pm and 5pm with 289 people (16.0%).

Heat can make the symptoms worse. When a heat wave warning or alert is issued, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends reducing activity during the hottest hours and, if activity is unavoidable, avoid contact with the mouth and throat.
They recommended wearing wide-brimmed hats and light-colored, loose, cool clothing, and urged people to drink water regularly and take frequent showers, even if they don't feel thirsty.
