「BTS」SUGA、SUGA側vs警察の相反する主張
”Drunk” ”BTS” SUGA, ”Electric kickboard” or ”scooter”... Conflicting claims between SUGA's side and the police... Apology made but the affair continues
SUGA of the Korean boy band "BTS" was charged by the police with drunk driving, and contrary to the facts initially known, he was not using an electric kickboard but an electric scooter.
The controversy has intensified since it was revealed that Suga was driving a car in the car. On the 7th (today), the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul filed charges against Suga for drunk driving and is currently investigating the matter.
At the time of the arrest, his blood alcohol content was confirmed to be at a level that would result in license revocation (0.08% or higher).
Previously, on the night of the 6th, SUGA was seen riding an electric scooter on the street in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu.
When police found him and approached him to help him, they immediately smelled alcohol and he was taken to the nearby police station.
SUGA and management office BIG HIT MUSIC described it as an "electric kickboard," but the police clarified that "the model SUGA was riding was an electric scooter with a saddle."
The electric scooter that Suga rode doesn't look much different from an electric kickboard in appearance, but it is known to be a model that has an added saddle where a person can sit.
Since the accident occurred outside of working hours, it was confirmed by military authorities that no additional disciplinary action or punishment will be imposed.
"Since he subsequently engaged in drunk driving, it is unlikely that this constitutes a violation of the obligation to maintain dignity. There will be no additional disciplinary action or punishment," the company said. The service management regulations for social service personnel include a clause on the "obligation to maintain dignity."
However, since it was after work hours, the regulations did not apply. Suga posted on the 7th (today) on the fan platform Weverse about the social controversy.
He apologized for the incident, saying, "Last night, after drinking at a dinner table, I rode my electric scooter home. I thought it was a neighborhood trip, and I realized that it's impossible to ride an electric scooter while drunk.
"I was not fully aware of the fact that the electric scooter was being used, and I violated the Road Traffic Act," he said, adding, "While I was leaning the electric scooter against the main gate in front of my house, I fell over and there were police officers nearby.
"After a breathalyzer test, the license was revoked and a fine was imposed," he said. "No one was harmed or any facilities damaged in the process, but there is no room for excuses.
It was my fault, so I would like to sincerely apologize to everyone." Meanwhile, Big Hit Music also said, "SUGA was drunk on the night of the 6th and was on his way home while wearing a helmet.
"After traveling about 500 meters, the scooter fell over when parking. No casualties or damage to property were reported in this incident, and the victim was handed over to the police and returned home.
He commented, "I did."
