Prime Minister Han Deok-soo: ”The most important thing in the people's livelihood economy is revitalizing the local economy” - South Korea
Prime Minister Han Deok-soo emphasized on the 8th that “the most important thing for the people’s livelihood is the revitalization of the local economy.” The Prime Minister held a press conference at Yangjae-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul on the same day.
"We need to ensure that the results of GDP (gross domestic product), exports, investment, etc. lead to a real recovery in people's livelihood and the expansion of domestic demand," he said in a congratulatory speech at the National Local Government Employment Awards ceremony held at L Tower in Seoul.
The Prime Minister said, "At the center of this are jobs. When local industries are revitalized and quality jobs are created, young people will gather in the area, and with that power, the area will grow."
"The government will provide the utmost support to help the regions take the lead in creating creative development models and creating various success stories. The regions will be revitalized and the nation will be balanced," he said.
"If this development is realized, many of the problems we are facing, such as youth employment, housing issues, and a declining birthrate, will be resolved," he said. "The government will ease the concentration of businesses in the capital area and implement bold regulatory innovation and localization."
"We will usher in an era of local areas where it is easy to live anywhere through measures such as relocation and investment promotion," he added.
