17 Korean police officers in Paris return home after completing Olympic duties
The 17-member "Olympic Safety Support Team" dispatched by the Korean National Police Agency to France to support local safety activities in preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics completed their mission of just over a month on the 13th.
The French government requested other countries to send police officers in preparation for the increased need for security during the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and the Korean government responded by sending the Korea-France Security Council to the National Police Agency.
The first safety support team (17 people) in charge of the Summer Olympics carried out its duties on-site from the 14th of last month to the 11th of this month.
During their time in Paris, Korean police handled a total of 368 cases. In addition, police officers working at the International Cooperation Center worked closely with French security authorities.
In cooperation with the Olympics, we were responsible for sharing international security information with relevant domestic and international agencies in preparation for terrorist and cyber attacks during the Olympics.
Meanwhile, the Korean National Police Agency has been sending out the second security support team (14 people) since the 19th of this month.
They will be providing safety support during the Paralympics, which will be held from the 28th to the 8th of next month.
