韓国の元与党議員「『日本』が出てこない光復節メッセージ」…「きょうは何の日なのか問いたい」
South Korean former ruling party lawmaker: ”Gwangbokjeol message without 'Japan' in it”... ”I want to ask what day it is today”
South Korean lawmaker Yoo Seung-min, a former ruling party member of the People Power Party, sent a message to President Yoon Seok-yeol on Liberation Day (August 15th, the day celebrating the country's liberation from Japanese colonial rule).
I would like to read the message and ask the president, 'What day is it today? What does liberation mean?'" Rep. Youformer said on Facebook on the 15th, "The president's message included the words 'Today'.
"The word 'Japan's defeat' does not appear. The word 'Japan's defeat' appears only once," Rep. Yuformer pointed out, "There is no clearer, more regrettable day than today (15th) out of 365 days."
"It is a day to remember history, denounce the barbaric acts of the Japanese invaders, and demand that Japan reflect upon itself," he said. "This is a pious historical ceremony that everyone, whether conservative or progressive, right or left, should observe on Liberation Day."
He continued, "Talking about 'unification' on Liberation Day? That's possible," and added, "But before talking about unification, we need to talk about the history of the suffering we endured during the 35 years of Japanese colonial rule and the crimes of Japan.
"The division after Liberation Day and the tragedy of war, which led the president to talk about unification, are all examples of the history of Korea being dominated by Japan, which took away its sovereignty.
"It is a long history, from 114 years ago to 79 years ago, so if we forget, how can a nation that forgets its history achieve unification?
Can it be done?" he asked.
