South Korean military ”takes custody of one North Korean soldier who went south”... Reveals intention to ”defect”

A North Korean soldier defected to South Korea at dawn on the 20th. A South Korean military source said, "The military arrested a suspected North Korean on the eastern front today and handed him over to the relevant authorities.
The official said, "We cannot yet provide details regarding the process of his journey south and his surrender as these are currently being investigated by the relevant agencies."
Another military source said, "A North Korean soldier crossed the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) between the night before and the early hours of this morning and expressed his intention to surrender."
"The military tracked and monitored the individual in accordance with the manual from the north side of the eastern front (MDL) until he headed south, and then carried out a normal guidance operation, securing his custody," it explained.
The individual was wearing military uniform and appears to be of the rank of non-commissioned officer in the South Korean military.
