”Veteran 2” director Ryoo Seung-wan: ”Casting Jung HaeIn was like a transfusion of fresh blood”

Director Ryoo Seung-wan revealed that the reason he cast actor Jung HaeIn in the film "Veteran 2" was because of "fresh blood."
On the 20th, director Ryoo Seung-wan attended the CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
At the press conference for the movie "Veteran 2" held in Seoul, he said, "I had a lot of fun making the first part (Veteran 1). The actors and staff were in good chemistry with each other. It's not a big-scale movie.
"I was a big fan of the film, but I didn't think it would become a big hit," he continued. "While I was making the film, I had a deep affection for the main character, Seo Do Cheol, and the characters in the film," he said.
"I wanted to make another one with him, but I didn't think it would take this long," he said. When asked why it took nine years for the sequel to come out, he said, "It was because I didn't want to ride on the success of the first one.
"At the same time, we shouldn't pursue something too new, so it took a long time to make the sequel in the process of finding the right balance."
When asked why he cast Jung HaeIn, he said, "A transfusion of fresh blood is like a new axis.
"When I was thinking about who would be good, I thought of Jung HaeIn from 'Start Up'. I had a really good impression of her," he continued.
He was good at all the roles, not just as a wandering young man, but also as a model student and someone catching a deserter. Jung HaeIn has many different faces, so I asked her to take the part, and she was very happy to accept."
Director Ryoo Seung-wan said, "We got along well overall," and added, "We needed someone fresh like that."
He was full of praise for HaeIn. Jung HaeIn said, "I was very nervous when I first received the offer to appear in 'Veteran 2'," and "I didn't know it was 'Veteran,' I just thought it was funny."
"I was only told that it was a project, but when I heard it was 'Veteran 2' I was really excited and felt a warmth in the corner of my heart," he said with a bright smile.
"Veteran 2" is a story about a veteran detective who is dedicated to catching the bad guys until the very end, and the youngest detective joins the team to investigate a serial killer who has shocked the world.
The film tells the story of a man chasing a monster, and will be released in Korea on September 13th.
