Ji Young-mi, director of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, held a press conference with the COVID-19 response team on the 21st and said, "This outbreak is a crisis that requires us to once again take social distancing measures and reach a crisis level.
"It's not a level that requires raising the standard of living, but it can be managed within the current medical system," he said. Looking at the progress of COVID-19 epidemics over the past two years, the number of cases will reach its peak in the past year until the end of this month.
"The number of patients will likely increase to a similar level as last week's (349,000 new infections in the second week of August last year), and then gradually decrease."
"60,000 doses of treatment drugs have already been delivered between last week and this week, and 170,000 will be delivered by next Monday (26th)," said Ji.
"With more than 7,000 doses of the drug being delivered sooner than expected, the supply of the drug will be smoother than expected."
