”All the ice cream has melted”... Electricity thief causes trouble for unmanned store manager = Korea
A story was reported about a self-employed man who was forced to throw away all of his ice cream because construction workers had used his unmanned ice cream shop's electricity without permission.
The incident happened recently in Hongmun-dong, Yeoju City, Gyeonggi Province.
On the 20th, Mr. A, the manager of an unmanned ice cream shop, posted on his SNS
The story was published along with edited footage of the scene captured by security cameras inside and outside the store. In the footage, a man who appears to be a construction worker wearing a hat is seen holding an electric wire and entering Mr. A's store.
Next, a man was looking near the ice cream freezer, found an outlet, plugged it in, and then left the store.
The electricity supply to the store's freezers was subsequently cut off. When construction began, the electricity was overloaded and a ground fault circuit interruption was triggered.
The switch was apparently lowered. A said, "They probably needed electricity to use their construction equipment, so they probably used the outlet in our store. The switch was lowered like that.
"All the ice cream had melted. We have to throw away all the ice cream in the box. We can't freeze it again and sell it," he said bitterly.
Mr. A said, "The supply price is about 1 million won (about 109,182 yen), but I'm at a loss. Life is a comedy TV series. It's hard, but I'll try to laugh."
In the video, Mr. A bursts into laughter, but then quickly turns to tears, creating a comical scene. Internet users who learned of the situation commented, "The construction workers who used the electricity like thieves should be blamed for everything.
"They should pay compensation," "It's not enough that they just stole electricity and used it; they've also interfered with business, so we should report this to the police," and other responses were given.
