2030年以降、日本に行くなら「事前オンライン審査」?=韓国報道
After 2030, if you want to go to Japan, you will have to undergo ”advance online screening”? = South Korean report
The Sankei Shimbun reported on the 22nd that "the Japanese government is promoting the introduction of a system in which tourists from countries exempt from short-term visas will be screened before entering Japan."
This is the "E" program implemented by the United States for foreigners (for tourism and business purposes) who wish to visit the country without a visa for up to 90 days.
This is the Japanese version of the Electronic Travel Authorization System (STA). This system is intended to eliminate illegal immigrants who try to stay in Japan by abusing the refugee application system after entering Japan without a visa.
The aim is to have it implemented by 2030. The new system will apply to the 71 countries and regions for which Japan currently permits visa-free entry for short-term tourists, including South Korea.
Once this system is implemented, short-term visa-free tourists will be able to apply online and go through a simplified screening procedure, similar to ESTA, before entering Japan.
The Sankei Shimbun reported that "immigration authorities receive information from airlines, such as the names of foreigners planning to visit Japan, and after comparing it with a blacklist, airlines will deny boarding to those who are suspected of being suspicious.
The plan is to conduct a trial run of the proposal starting this year."
