China's food consumption in the first half of the year reached 4.88 trillion yen, up 7.86% from the same period last year - Chinese report

According to the China Logistics and Purchasing Federation's announcement on the 22nd, China's food consumption has been steadily increasing in the first half of this year. The proportion of direct sales in the food supply chain has increased.
According to an estimate by the Food Supply Chain Section of the Food Industry Federation, China's food consumption in the first half of this year was 4.88 trillion former (about 100 trillion yen).
This was an increase of 7.86% from the same period last year. Of this, food consumption in the retail industry was 3.83 trillion former (approximately 78 trillion yen), and in the food and beverage industry it was 1.05 trillion former (approximately 21 trillion yen).
During the same period, food consumption accounted for 20.7% of the total retail sales of consumer goods nationwide, up 0.8 percentage points from the previous year.
In addition, experts said that in the first half of this year, more and more enterprises have adopted the direct supply model, which is not only conducive to the large-scale and standardization of local cultivation, but also helps farmers increase their income.
