A Korean Air passenger plane bound for Gimpo Airport from Jeju Airport stopped on the runway due to a malfunction, resulting in a complete suspension of air travel to and from Jeju Airport.
According to the Korea Airports Corporation (Jeju Airport), at 8:55 pm on the 26th, Korean Air flight KE1336 bound for Gimpo Airport crashed onto the runway at Jeju Airport due to a malfunction during takeoff.
The passengers on the flight are still trapped on board. In addition, about 10 other aircraft that were scheduled to depart immediately after the flight are also unable to take off and are waiting.
A Jeju Airport official said, "We are currently identifying the cause of the aircraft malfunction and repairing it," adding, "All aircraft operations have currently been suspended."
