A Korean Air flight bound for Gimpo Airport in South Korea stopped on the runway due to a malfunction, and the malfunctioning aircraft was towed away. Aircraft operations at Jeju Airport resumed about 2 hours and 20 minutes later.
On the 27th, the Korea Airports Corporation (Jeju Airport) said that at 8:55 pm the previous day, Korean Air flight KE1336 bound for Gimpo stopped on the runway at Jeju Airport due to a mechanical malfunction during takeoff.
After that, aircraft that were scheduled to depart were unable to take off and had to wait, and flights that were scheduled to arrive at Jeju Airport were diverted, causing problems.
It was learned that the runway was closed for two hours and 20 minutes, from 9:17 p.m. to 11:37 p.m. on the 26th.
Jeju Airport has resumed flight operations after completing runway inspections, with the disabled aircraft being the first to take off, followed by flights to Gimpo operated by other airlines to Incheon.
