「7人死亡」火災発生したホテル、経営者の居住地・事務所を家宅捜索=韓国
”7 dead” - Hotel owner's residence and office searched in South Korea after fire breaks out
Police investigating the hotel fire in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, launched a forced investigation today, five days after the fire, searching the hotel and the manager's residence.
The Gyeonggi Nambu National Police Agency's Bucheon Hotel Fire Investigation Headquarters deployed 19 investigators from 8:55 a.m. on the 27th to investigate the hotel where the fire occurred, the residence of the owner and manager, and the hotel's fire prevention facilities.
Police have also filed additional charges of professional negligence resulting in death and injury against a man who was involved in the initial response to the fire.
As a result, the number of people charged in this case has increased to three, including the two managers. It was reported that Company B has been in charge of the hotel's independent fire inspections in the past. The hotel also conducted an independent fire inspection in April of this year.
An inspection was carried out and the results were reported to the Bucheon Fire Department, but since no issues were found at the time, some have pointed out that the inspection may have been merely a formality.
Once the police have completed their search of the house, they plan to analyze the seized items and conduct an intensive investigation into how the fire started and how the loss of life became greater.
The police have also so far conducted interviews with 24 people, including survivors, witnesses, and employees of the accident.
Prior to this, the police had requested the National Forensic Service to carry out autopsies on the bodies of the seven deceased.
"Five of the deceased are presumed to have died from carbon monoxide poisoning, and the remaining two from falling," the oral opinion stated.
The fire broke out at around 7:34 pm on the 22nd at a hotel in Jung-dong, Bucheon, leaving seven people dead and 12 injured.
Although the poisonous gas did not spread throughout the entire hotel, the damage was exacerbated because toxic gas spread rapidly inside the hotel and there were no sprinklers installed in the guest rooms.
