<Interview> Jaehyun (NCT), who made his solo debut, talks about the thoughts behind his first solo album ”J”
Jaehyun, a member of the Korean boy group "NCT", will release his first solo album "J" on the 26th. All songs from his first solo album "J" will be available on various music sites at 6 pm on August 26th.
The album is composed of 8 songs, including the Korean and English versions of the title song "Smoke". In particular, Jaehyun spoke directly about the direction of this album and the album title.
The album includes the title song "Smoke," as well as "Roses," "Flamin' Hot Lemon," "Dandelion," and "Can't Get Up."
Jaehyun has put his heart and soul into preparing for this album, including participating in the writing of five songs for "You," so you can fully enjoy Jaehyun's sensibility. Q.
It must be quite emotional for you as this is your first album as a solo artist. What are your thoughts on your solo debut?
I'm really thankful to the fans who have waited for so long, and I'm excited about the music I've been preparing and the new journey I'm about to embark on.
Q. Please tell us about your first solo album, "J." It is the first album that contains 8 songs that are completed with my voice and color.
Normally, when I want to display my identity on things like earphones and headsets, I write "J", but this is my first solo
I decided on the letter "J" because it's an album that I put my whole self into. Q. You had a high level of participation in the direction of this album and the songwriting, which shows that you have your own unique color.
What kind of sensibility did you want to convey? While promoting as a group, I always tried my best at every moment, and at the same time, I worked hard to find my own color.
In this album, I wanted to include the results of the time I've spent building up so far and show you my first steps as a solo artist. Q.
What was the one thing you focused on the most while working on it?
I wanted to incorporate a variety of colors that I can express.
I prepared it with the hope that it would be an album that people would listen to for a long time and love. Q. Have you discovered any new charms of yourself while working on your solo album?
If I say I'll do it, I'll do it (laughs). I had a lot of schedules while preparing the album and it was hard at times, but I ended up completing it all. Q.
What is the difference between preparing a group album and preparing a solo album?
I want to understand that it takes a lot of time and passion from many people to create an album.
It was a time when I was able to feel that way. I once again felt grateful. Q. Please tell us what kind of song the title song "Smoke" is.
It's a hip-hop R&B song with soft vocals and a flow that is appealing. I participated in writing the lyrics, but one day, I was in the car and suddenly came up with a song.
"I wittily unraveled the issues I've been struggling with. The addictive beat and rhythmic melody make it easy for anyone to listen to, and it's a song that shows my various charms."
Q. I'm looking forward to the performance of the title song "Smoke". What kind of image do you want to show? More than anything, I want to show that I truly love and enjoy music.
Q. Besides the title song, there are many other songs you participated in the recording of. Is there one that you would particularly recommend? Each song was recorded with a different concept in mind, so
I recommend listening to all the songs on the album! I'm also curious to know what songs the fans like. Q. What are the members of "NCT" like?
How did they support you? They told me a lot that they were looking forward to it. When I was preparing for my solo album, I was told, "NCT
We were also working together on "127" and he always told me to "do your best" from that time on. After the release preview song came out, he still supports me and gives me a lot of strength.
Q. How would you describe your first album "J" in one word? It's great! Q. Is there anything that you remember most about preparing for this album?
I remember that in December of last year, at our first meeting for the album, I had him listen to three songs that I had personally worked on, and I talked about my musical direction.
It was then that I felt like this was the real beginning. Q. Lastly, please say a few words to the CZNs (NCTzen = NCT fans) who are supporting your solo debut.
I always say this, but it's thanks to CIZENNY that I can keep going. I think it's a really important and special relationship. I always get strength from CIZENNY.
I hope that this album will be a positive force for CIZENNY as well, and that we will continue to work together in our future endeavors.
