South Korean ruling party lawmakers submit DeepFei Victim Protection Act to prevent sexual crimes using AI technology

On the 28th, Rep. Seo Ji Young of the ruling party "People Power Party" of South Korea announced that they would protect victims of sexual crimes committed by DeepFei, as crimes committed through the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) technology have become a social problem.
The bill to amend the Sexual Violence Prevention and Victim Protection Act, which was submitted by Rep. Seo as the representative, will extend the support for removing illegally recorded material currently handled by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family to local governments.
The bill also includes a new basis for establishing a "Central Digital Sexual Crime Victim Support Center" (hereinafter referred to as the "Support Center") under the jurisdiction of the Korea Women's Human Rights Agency.
The Support Center will establish an international cooperation system for the removal of illegally recorded material, conduct research and public relations activities on the prevention of damage caused by such material, receive reports of damage and provide consultation, and support investigations.
