This is the first case of a company president being arrested since the incident. Judge Song Cheol, chief warrant specialist at the Suwon District Court, issued the following warrant to Park, who is suspected of violating the Major Disaster Punishment Act:
An arrest warrant was issued for Park Joon-won, the son of Park and general manager of the company, on the same grounds.
The representative is suspected of violating the Act on Punishment of Serious Accidents and the Temporary Work Agency Act, while Park is suspected of violating the Industrial Safety and Health Act and professional negligence resulting in death or injury.
Meanwhile, arrest warrants have also been issued for the manpower supply company Hanshindia's CEO, Jeong, and Aricell's safety management team chief, Park.
The court dismissed the charges against the four suspects, citing that they were not likely to destroy evidence or flee.
As part of its investigation into the case, the Ministry of Employment and Labor applied for a pre-arrest warrant on the 23rd for Park, General Manager Park, and Jung on suspicion of violating the Industrial Safety Act and the Temporary Workers Dispatch Act.
In particular, Park was accused of violating the Act on Punishment of Major Accidents. The police also filed charges against Park, the head of the safety management team at Aricell, for professional negligence resulting in death and injury.
After reviewing the warrant applications from the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the police, the prosecutors determined that "there is evidence of suspicion of a crime and grounds for detention," and requested the court to issue an arrest warrant.
