Bitcoin mining company Bitfarms has acquired a large data center in Sharon, Pennsylvania, USA.
With this data center acquisition, Bitfarms has secured 110MW (megawatts) and plans to redevelop a site with an additional 10MW.
The plan is to expand the site's total capacity to 120 MW by 2025 through a renewable energy facility. This will be the first large-scale facility in the U.S. with access to up to 120 MW of power capacity.
The company said it has "already ordered the necessary equipment and expects to have 30MW of capacity online by the end of this year."
"This massive facility will expand our US presence by approximately seven times and accelerate our aggressive US growth plans," said Bitfarms CEO Ben Gagnon.
This means that it will begin in earnest."
