President Yoon explains vision for ”August 15 Unification Doctrine” at national press conference
South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol said on the 29th that he would "pave the way for a free and unified Republic of Korea" based on a strong national security.
At the press conference, he set out the agenda for the fields of diplomacy and security as "a free and unified Republic of Korea" and "diplomacy as a global central power."
President Yoon said, "I will continue to support the people of Korea on August 15, the Liberation Day of Korea (the anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japanese colonial rule)."
Regarding the "August 15 Unification Doctrine" announced on August 15, the day of the anniversary of the establishment of the Korean peninsula, he said, "It is a concrete embodiment of the vision and plan for unification that the Korean liberal democratic constitution has enjoined upon the president and the people."
"When Korea further strengthens its value system of freedom, we will be able to spread our freedom and prosperity to the North," he said. "We will create a free and unified Republic of Korea that contributes to peace and prosperity in the international community."
President Yoon also said, "National security is the backbone of the nation and the pillar that supports the economy. The government will realize peace through strong strength."
