”Therapeutic use”... Yu A In, accused of using psychotropic drugs, receives first trial ruling this week

The prosecution is set to hear sentences for suspect Yu and his acquaintance, artist Choi (33), who were both indicted on suspicion of rape, sexual assault, and other crimes.
Suspect Yoo is accused of administering sleep anesthesia for cosmetic procedures at 14 hospitals between September 2020 and March 2022.
He is accused of using medical narcotics such as propofol, midazolam, remimazolam, and ketamine 181 times. In addition, he is accused of using medical narcotics 44 times from May 2021 to August of the following year.
The prosecution also uncovered allegations that Yoo had instructed an acquaintance to destroy evidence and forced the group to smoke marijuana in the United States.
At the closing hearing held on July 24, the prosecution sought four years in prison, a 2 million won fine, and a 1.5 million won surcharge for suspect Yoo. The prosecution said, "As a famous celebrity, the defendant made statements of conviction.
"He has exerted social influence through his actions," he said, adding, "Yet the defendant used that social influence to commit illegal acts in order to cover up his crimes."
The defense lawyer admitted to drug use, but said he was receiving treatment for depression, anxiety and insomnia.
He defended that his goal was to kill the suspect, but denied the charges of encouraging his acquaintance to smoke marijuana and instructing him to destroy evidence.
"I have taken a moment to reflect on this, but I am determined to learn from this incident and live as a more mature and responsible person," he said.
The prosecution also sought a four-year prison sentence for Choi, who was indicted along with Yoo.
He was referred to the prosecutor's office on suspicion of violating the law (marijuana), retaliatory intimidation under the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Specified Crimes, and aiding in the escape of a criminal.
