According to News 1, on the 4th, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station arrested a man at a famous inn located on Seoul Gangnam Boulevard.
The prosecutors have decided to refer Mr. A, who was operating a dental clinic, to the prosecution on charges of fraud after he suddenly closed down and was sued. Mr. A received advance payments from 81 patients for implant treatment.
It is suspected that he never returned the money after receiving it. The damage amounted to 220 million won (approximately 24 million yen).
On May 31 at 10:56 p.m., Mr. A wrote to a patient, "Due to the current severe situation, we are no longer able to operate the hospital.
In response, some patients reported Mr. A to the police for suspected fraud.
This dental clinic advertises that they can provide implants at a lower price than other hospitals.
According to the victims, the cheapest implant price was around 300,000 won (about 32,000 yen), which was a quarter of the price at other hospitals.
Many of the elderly, low-income, and foreign patients who received treatment there were affected.
