Actor Cho Seung Woo will return to the stage in the play "Hamlet" produced by the Seoul Arts Center. The Seoul Arts Center is currently producing Shakespeare's "Hamlet" as part of its Towol Traditional Theater Series.
The Sting was released on the 4th. It is a work by Shin Yuchun, a director who is gaining attention in the theater world, and will be shown at the CJ Towol Theater in Seoul Arts Center from October 18th to November 17th.
Hamlet tells the story of how the king of Denmark suddenly dies, and his brother Claudius marries the queen and takes the throne.
The son Hamlet is ordered to find out the truth and is tormented and conflicted between revenge and his moral beliefs.
Cho Seung Woo, an actor who has played Hamlet in the past, was cast in the role. Hamlet is the most intelligent character that Shakespeare has ever created, and he is a character who must delicately express his deep inner conflict.
The Seoul Arts Center said, "Actor Cho Seung-woo has been praised for his perfect portrayal of various characters in musicals, TV series, and movies, and for being a man of his own genre.
"This production is the result of a collaboration between Woo and young director Shin Yuchun's directing skills, which highlight his sensual and modern interpretation, and the Seoul Arts Center's solid planning capabilities."
The role of Claudius (the king's younger brother) will be played by Park Sung-geun, who has been gaining attention for his work in TV series such as "Secret Forest" and "Model Taxi 2." Jung Jae-eun will play the role of Gertrude (the queen).
The ghost of the former king will be played by Jung Kuk-hwan. Kim Young Min will play Horatio, Hamlet's schoolmate, Kim Jong-guk will play Polonius, and Bae Soo will play Laertes.
The cast includes Goo Seok-hwan and others. The heroine Ophelia is played by up-and-coming actor Lee Eun-ji. Lee Eun-ji was chosen from 450 candidates at the public audition held in June.
