300 SME managers visit Samsung Electronics' smart factory (South Korea)
On the 5th, 300 Korean small and medium-sized business owners visited Samsung Electronics' Gwangju plant to learn about smart factory operation know-how. The initiative is being implemented by the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises and the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Startups.
The joint visit by Samsung Electronics and Samsung Electronics marked an important step in the direction of innovation in the manufacturing industry. The CEOs toured Samsung Electronics' state-of-the-art manufacturing line and experienced first-hand the company's innovative production processes.
Afterwards, an awards ceremony for outstanding companies was held, case studies were presented, and a lecture by Samsung Electronics entitled "Guide to Building a Successful Smart Factory" was given.

Hanso Precision Industries, a tile manufacturing company with 60 years of tradition, has reduced its defect rate and shipping lead time by utilizing an ES (production management system) to collect and analyze production data in real time.
Three case studies were presented, including Sanchon Tokiwa, which has realized a manufacturing process. These companies were awarded by the Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises and praised for their achievements.
Lim Kyung-jun, chairman of the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises, said, "Samsung's smart factory project is in line with the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises.
"This year, in addition to improving the quality of smart factories, we will also work with local governments on projects to support the food industry, etc.
Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises Oh Young-soo said, "The coexistence of large companies and small and medium enterprises, where the know-how of large companies is utilized to innovate small and medium enterprises, is the government's smart policy."
"This is a core issue in the factory business. Samsung's symbiosis project is a representative example of support, and we hope that they will continue to be a reliable and successful partner for small and medium-sized enterprises in the future."
