Nurse injects tap water instead of painkillers, nine patients die in US

A nurse in the United States was arrested by police after it was revealed she was injecting patients with "tap water" instead of narcotic painkillers.

"The nurse was arrested on 44 counts of second-degree assault," the hospital said. Hospital officials said the patients who became ill or died were infected with bacteria related to a contagious waterborne disease.
The police became suspicious and reported the incident to the police, who then began an investigation. The investigation revealed that the nurse in question had been secretly hiding prescribed painkillers and providing unsterilized tap water to patients.
In response, the family members and others filed a lawsuit against the hospital for $303 million.
