China's small and medium-sized enterprise development index fell to 88.8 in August as demand slows - Chinese report

The China Association of Small and Medium Enterprises announced on the 10th that its August small and medium enterprise development index was 88.8, down 0.1 points from the previous month.
By item, seven out of eight indexes fell.
The market index and profit index all declined from the previous month's increase. By occupation, the wholesale and retail trade index rose 0.1 points, and the accommodation and food service industry index rose 0.3 points. The construction and social services industries rose 0.1 points.
The real estate and information and communication software industries both saw declines, dropping 0.1 and 0.5 percentage points, respectively. In addition, the industrial sector saw a 0.2 percentage point drop, while the transportation and logistics sector saw a 0.2 percentage point drop.
The SME development index by region was 89.5 in the eastern region, 89.6 in the central region, 87.5 in the western region, and 80.1 in the northeastern region. The index for the northeastern region was 0.4 points lower than the previous month.
The association pointed out that the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises in China is still unstable and market demand is slowing.
