"In the past, Kim has shown an interest in suicide prevention and respect for life, including through meetings with police officers on the scene who rescue those attempting suicide," a spokesman for the South Korean government said.
During the private visit, Mrs. Kim handed out pizza, chicken burgers and other food to workers on the ground.
"I know very well that those of you here are doing the most difficult and challenging things," Kim said to the workers on the ground. "I will continue to fight against these problems."
"I will always listen to the voices of those on the ground who understand this very well," he said.
