「自分も死ぬところだった」…アパートからロープで降りて父親を殺害した息子=韓国
”I was almost killed too” - Son killed father by climbing down from 7th floor apartment building using rope (South Korea)
Relatives claim that a man in his 30s who murdered and buried his father and then reported him missing is making false statements.
Defendant A, the youngest of three siblings, died at around 3 a.m. on November 6 last year at Kyungsan
The man went to a livestock shed owned by his father in his 60s in Sangju, Bukdo, and woke him up, asking him to give the shed to him. When he refused, he killed him with a blunt object.
Defendant A is suspected of burying his father in a nearby field and filing a missing person's report, as well as attempting to remove evidence of the planned crime, including the computer on which he had searched for information on how to kill the victim.
Defendant A's crimes were revealed when a foreign worker testified that he had seen Defendant A in the livestock shed in the early hours of the day of the incident.
According to JTBC's "Case Leader" on the 11th of this month, defendant A, who claims to have committed the crime by accident, was in his apartment 7 on the day of the crime.
He descended from the first floor onto a rope to avoid CCTV and then walked to his father's livestock shed, about 13 kilometres away.
The relatives said, "(Defendant A) wrote a letter of remorse and after the crime, he climbed the rope back into the room.
"When he was about to leave the house, he seemed to be pitying himself, thinking that he had almost died as well." In fact, in a letter of apology submitted to the court, Defendant A said, "I did not intend to kill anyone, but I wanted to destroy the facilities of the livestock barn.
However, he claimed that he risked his life by climbing the rope because he needed an alibi if his father reported him. He also used a computer to search for information such as "climbing the rope," "funeral procedures in case of death at home," and "relatives'
When asked why he searched for "sentencing for murder," he said, "I don't even know why I searched for it. Even if you just click, not type, it leaves a record, so I guess it was just by chance."
The relatives said, "Defendant A's mother, the former wife of his father, is actively pleading for leniency," and added, "Defendant A said, 'My father was violent and I grew up being subjected to violence. I helped my father run the livestock farm.'
"The defendant A, who was indicted on charges of murdering a relative and concealing the body, was heard at the first hearing on May 9th.
He was sentenced to life imprisonment. The court stated in its decision that "Considering that Defendant A has shown no remorse, even during the trial, and has continued to criticize his father, who is also the victim, it is necessary to isolate him from society forever."
The prosecution, which had sought the death penalty for defendant A, appealed the decision, citing the injustice of the sentence. The prosecution said, "Not only did defendant A brutally murder and bury his father, but he also used the surviving family to conceal evidence, and the case is atrocious.
"This is an extremely serious matter, and considering that Defendant A has shifted the responsibility and shown no remorse, as well as the fact that the bereaved family has requested that Defendant A be given the maximum possible punishment," the court said.
The second trial sentence for Defendant A is scheduled for the end of September.
