【インタビュー】「愛のあとにくるもの」坂口健太郎、「国際恋愛の経験はあるかって?」
[Interview] ”What Comes After Love” - Kentaro Sakaguchi, ”Have you ever had an international relationship?”
"I have no experience with international romance. (Acting an international romance) is a matter of imagination," said Japanese actor Kentaro Sakaguchi when asked about his experience with the "international romance" that is the subject of the play.
On the morning of the 13th, an interview with Kentaro Sakaguchi, the star of Coupang PLAY's original drama "What Comes After Love," was held at a cafe in Seogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
"What Comes After Love" is a sensitive and manslaughter drama that depicts the aftermath of the love story between a Korean woman, "Hong," who has forgotten everything after her fateful love ends, and a Japanese man, "Jungo," who is filled with regret.
Kentaro Sakaguchi, who had no actual experience and acted based on his imagination, confessed, "All I can do is imagine, 'Is this really how it is?'" and "I can understand the heart of the character."
He continued, "I don't have experience in international romance, but I think there are many difficult aspects to it," and "I think it's difficult." Did your thoughts about international romance change while filming the TV series?
When asked, Hong said, "Where you live is also important," and that she felt lonely after meeting a man from Japan (another country). Jungo could not understand that.
"I think we were able to feel her loneliness to some extent," he explained. Kentaro Sakaguchi also portrayed Jungo, who still misses his ex-girlfriend Hong, whom he broke up with five years ago.
He said, "There are parts of the character Jungo that I respect, but we both had painful experiences in the past, and five years have passed, but Jungo hasn't forgotten those times and still has love in his heart."
"Five years is a short time, but for Jungo it's a long time. I respect his energy in continuing to love Hong even though he doesn't know when he'll be able to see her again."
Kentaro Sakaguchi said, "Hong wanted Jungo to tell him a lot of things and to act. Jungo knew, but he couldn't even say 'I'm sorry,' and he couldn't even say 'I love you.'
"Even if he didn't use words, he couldn't express it. The other person felt dissatisfied, but he couldn't go that far and ended up taking a step back, but I empathize with his actions and feelings."
She said about Jungo, "I've been dating him for five years and I'm writing a novel based on love. I think the novel itself is a medium that has accumulated the energy of love over the past five years."
When asked if he had ever waited five years for a former lover, he replied, "Not five years," and added, "Five years was not a promised time.
At some point, you have five years to think about it, but can you wait that long? I can't.
"Because you never know when you'll meet again. That's why Jungo is so great," he added.
