BMW Korea opens quick-charging station with lounge (Korea)
BMW Group Korea, the Korean subsidiary of German automaker BMW, has opened a new electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging station called "BMW Charging Station" in Jung-gu, Seoul, where customers can charge their electric vehicles (EVs) and take a break.
The facility is the first lounge-style quick-charging station opened by the BMW Group. It is equipped with six 2,000-kilowatt quick chargers.
The lounge will feature a charging station for electric vehicles and a cafe. The lounge will display a variety of limited edition models from BMW and its subsidiary brand Mini, including luxury BMW models.
The BMW Charging Hub Lounge is located in Energy Plus Seoul, a building that stands on the former site of a gas station operated by major oil former seller GS Caltex.
The charging service will be operated by GS Charge V, an EV charging company, and the lounge will be managed by Parnass Hotel, an LG Group company.
In addition, the six chargers are compatible with the "Plug and Charge" (PnC) system developed by LG Electronics.
The technology recognizes information about the car and automatically authenticates the user and processes payments simply by plugging in the power plug. Prior to this, BMW Group Korea, together with Korea Electric Power Corporation, announced in April 2022 that it will
This was the first partnership in the imported car industry to develop PnC, which is scheduled to begin service in November.
