North Korea's ”dirty balloon” falls and causes fire on building roof in Seoul, South Korea
A dirty balloon released by North Korea fell on the roof of a building in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, South Korea, sparking a fire that was extinguished about 18 minutes later.
According to the Gangseo Fire Department in Seoul on the 15th, the incident occurred at around 9:04 pm on the roof of a four-story neighborhood facility in Gangseo-gu.
Firefighters responded to a call from a resident reporting a fire on the roof and extinguished the blaze in 18 minutes.
The fire caused ash and other debris to form on part of the building's roof, but no casualties were reported.
Police and military authorities were dispatched to the scene after receiving the report, and after retrieving the balloon, are currently investigating the exact cause of the fire together with fire authorities.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff said that North Korea was releasing a dirty balloon at around 5:20 p.m. on the same day,
"Beware of falling balloons, and report any that fall to the military or police," he said. In response to the distribution of anti-North Korea leaflets, North Korea has sent out filthy ships a total of 19 times since May this year.
The balloons were released for two days from the 4th to the 8th, the 11th, and the 14th.
