North Korea launches ”several ballistic missiles” following ”trash balloon” - South Korean report
North Korea launched a ballistic missile in the early hours of the 18th, just six days after the test firing of a new 600mm multiple launcher on the 12th of this month.
South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said on the same day, "South Korean troops are in Pyongan Nam-do, Gaecho
"Several short-range ballistic missiles were detected and are currently being analyzed after being launched in the northeast direction around 6:50 a.m. in the Kaecheon area," the North said.
"The South Korean military has strengthened its surveillance and vigilance in preparation for additional launches, while the Japanese and U.S. sides
"We are closely sharing information related to North Korea's ballistic missiles with the US and maintaining a full readiness to respond to them," the ministry said.
The object was estimated to have fallen outside of Japan's exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the Sea of Japan.
North Korea's ballistic missile launch comes six days after it fired several 600mm multiple rocket launchers on the 12th.
North Korea conducted a rocket launch using a new rocket launcher vehicle, with Chairman of the State Affairs Commission Kim Jung Eun in attendance. On the 13th, North Korea announced in its official media that it had acquired a high-grade rocket launcher, which is used to make nuclear warheads.
After revealing its enriched uranium (HEU) production facility, it launched a provocation using ballistic missiles.
Provocations such as releasing "balloons" continue.
