Three people killed in hotel fire after being asked to leave in South Korea
Police are seeking an arrest warrant for the suspect, a man in his 40s, who set the fire after being asked to leave the inn where he was staying because he was unable to pay the bill.
Police are investigating the case at Namchu (South) District, Sangdang-gu, Cheongju City, Chungcheongbuk-do.
On the 21st, the police announced that they plan to request an arrest warrant for a suspect surnamed Kim (48) on suspicion of setting fire to a hotel in Suwon-dong.
The suspect, Kim, who had been staying at the inn for a long time, was asked to leave because he was unable to pay his bill.
At about 1:46 a.m., the inn's insulation around its entrance caught fire. The blaze grew, killing three other long-term guests at the inn.
Police said, "After completing the on-site investigation, we will request the National Institute of Investigation to perform autopsies on the victims to determine the cause of death.
"We plan to clarify the details," he said, adding, "Once the investigation is completed, we plan to apply for an arrest warrant."
