ユチョン、日本ソロ活動に拍車
”Drug + overdue issues” YUCHUN spurs on his activities at Japanese solo debut press conference... retirement never planned
Singer and actor Yoochun (ex-Dong Bang Shen Ki/ex-JYJ) is embarking on his solo debut in Japan.

Yoochun participated in his Japanese debut press conference held in Tokyo on the 20th. At the press conference, it was announced that he will release his Japanese solo debut mini album on the 18th December and hold a Christmas Zepp tour in Tokyo, Osaka and other cities in the same month.

On this day, he expressed his gratitude to his fans in Japanese and revealed his aspirations for his activities, saying, "I want to work hard’ and ‘I want to show both old and new faces."

Yoochun was involved in a drug scandal with his ex-girlfriend in 2019. At the time, he held an emergency press conference and said, "I never did drugs. If drug use was true, I would retire from the entertainment industry", but he later tested positive for heropon and was eventually sentenced to 10 months in prison and two years of probation, and was forced to leave the entertainment industry.

Since then, Yoochun has become an icon of turmoil, with rumours constantly surfacing, including disputes with his agency. In December last year, he was also named in the list of high habitual delinquent taxpayers published by the Korean National Tax Service, and his problematic behaviour continued. It is known that his arrears amounted to 409 million won.

Furthermore, his return film ‘Dedicated to Evil’, in which he withdrew from retirement and took up the challenge, was unsuccessfully released in theatres. Since Yoochun's activities in South Korea have become virtually impossible, he has shifted his focus overseas and has recently continued his activities by holding expensive fan meetings and dinner shows in Japan.

On the other hand, while Yoochun's activities in Japan have become official through the release of his album, he continues to be criticised by the public.
