North Korea's Kim Yo-jong vows to strengthen nuclear arsenal as U.S. Navy nuclear submarine arrives in Busan

Kim Yo Jong, the younger sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Eun and vice director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, was seen aboard the U.S. Navy nuclear submarine USS Vermont in Busan.
In response to the port entry, Kim issued a statement on the 24th announcing that he would strengthen his nuclear capabilities without limit. In a statement released to the Korean Central News Agency that afternoon, Kim said, "The United States has threatened to use force against our Republic and other independent sovereign states.
"While exerting control over North Korea, it is manipulating military blocs of all sizes in the region to rein in its anxious and restless followers, and is committing its nuclear and strategic assets to the Korean Peninsula and surrounding areas."
Regarding the nuclear submarine's port visit to South Korea, he said, "The US often takes out its nuclear strategic assets, demonstrates its power, increases the threat to its opponents, and ultimately seeks to enjoy hegemonic power through its malicious power.
"This is proof that the desire for nuclear weapons is reaching its peak," he said. He also argued that nothing will change even if the United States demonstrates "overwhelming capabilities" with its nuclear submarines.
"Our national security is constantly exposed to the nuclear threat from the United States, so we are vulnerable to various external threats," Kim said.
"In order to respond and deter, our nation's nuclear war deterrent must be strengthened quantitatively, sustainably, and without limit," he said. He went on to say that the entry of a nuclear submarine into port "can never be a source of fear.
Kim also said, "American strategic assets will not find a haven in the Korean peninsula. We will not let any port or military base in South Korea be a safe haven."
