In his closing argument, Kim's lawyer said, "I would like you to take into consideration that this incident occurred because the defendant was unable to control his anger and was not a planned crime.
Kim brandished a weapon at around 9:35 a.m. on March 25 at his home in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, killing the victim A (then in his 20s) and inflicting a small amount of damages on A's mother B.
Both were on trial for allegedly causing serious injuries that required 10 weeks of recovery. He usually showed signs of being obsessed with A, and while arguing with her, he threw her mobile phone, breaking it, and punched her in the arm.
