The man ran to the scene, pushed the wheelchair onto the sidewalk, and left the scene.
A man who helped a disabled person in a wheelchair cross the street at night in heavy rain on Gangnam-daero in Seocho-gu has become a hot topic.
The protagonist is Lee Jun-ho, a bus driver with 10 years of experience.
After witnessing the incident and asking the passengers for their understanding, the driver got off the bus. In the pouring rain, the driver ran across the crosswalk with the wheelchair-bound person and quickly returned to the bus. It all happened in five seconds.
The brief, almost forgettable moment went viral after children's literature critic Kim Jieun witnessed it and posted it on X.
Kim said, "A person in a wheelchair was crossing the street in the heavy rain, but he only made it halfway across.
"The driver of the bus, which was stopped at the time, jumped off the bus, pushed the wheelchair to safety, and returned to the bus while still soaking wet," the report said.
"Thank you, No. 470, No. 1371," he wrote, along with a wheelchair and heart emoji. Kim's post has been viewed about 500,000 times and shared more than 6,500 times.
Bus driver Lee Jun-ho said, "At that time, all I could think about was 'people first.' If the same thing were to happen again, I would do the same thing."
