The 25th tournament of the KLPGA Tour this season, the Hana Financial Group Championship (total prize money of 1.5 billion won/approximately 165 million yen), is expected to gather to support the team.
The Ladies Asia Tour (LAT) series covers Asia, including China, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia.
This year marks the sixth tournament, and it has attracted great interest from golf fans at home and abroad. Last year, the "little giant" Lee DaYeong (27, MEDIHEAL) won the tournament, which went all the way to a playoff.
Lee DaYeong said, "I really wanted to win this tournament, and I'm really glad that I was able to achieve such a dramatic victory last year. I'm going to compete as the defending champion.
"It's a meaningful thing in itself, but I'd be even happier if I could win it again," she said. However, her biggest concern is winning the major tournament, the AIG Women's Open, following her gold medal at the Paris Olympics.
The event will feature Lydia Ko, winner of last week's Kroger Queen City Championship, and a shot showdown between Park Hyun Kyung and Lee Ye Won of the KLPGA Tour.
Lydia Ko said, "Before this tournament, I had many achievements, such as winning an Olympic gold medal and an LPGA Tour title, but I am grateful for the support and interest I received from Korean fans.
"It was a great source of strength for me," he said. He also mentioned world-class players, including Minjee Lee (28), a Korean-Australian ranked 16th in the world who played a great match with Lee DaYeong in a playoff last year.
Kim Hyo-joo (29), ranked 19th in the world, and Patty Tabatatanakis (25), ranked 22nd, will also be showing off their amazing shots in front of their fans.
The top players on the KLPGA Tour will be competing for the championship trophy.
With three-time tour winner Bae Seohyun, Lee Ye Won, and Yoon In-na among the participants, this is expected to be a key point in the fierce battle for each title.
