The US Foreign Affairs Committee has released a statement on the case of Binance executive Tigran Ghanbarian, who was detained by the Nigerian government.
The resolution passed unanimously in the US Foreign Relations Committee on the 26th (local time) and is expected to go to a vote in the full House of Representatives afterwards.
Tigran Ghanbarian is currently in custody in Nigeria, where he is currently undergoing trial. The resolution passed by the US Congress calls for the release of Tigran Ghanbarian and unrestricted medical treatment.
The lawsuit includes a request for medical services. A Nigerian court has set a trial date for October 9th for Binance executive Tigran Ghanbaryan, who is currently being held in Nigeria and on trial.
The hearing has been postponed to 23:00 local time. The hearing is expected to include a decision on Tigran Gambarian’s bail application. Prior to this, the Nigerian government announced in February that Binance had acquired the Nigerian currency, NZD.
The Nigerian National Security Agency (NSSA) has also arrested Tigran Ghanbarian, Binance's head of financial crimes compliance, in connection with the alleged role he played in the collapse of the cryptocurrency.
Regarding the detention measures, a security agency official said, "No Binance employees have been arrested," but noted that it was "an issue involving national security."
