President Yoon Seok-yeol meets with Utah Governor to discuss Korean companies' expansion into the US
South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol met with Utah Governor Spencer Cox on the 27th to exchange views on expanding cooperation between South Korea and Utah and on the direction of the development of the US-ROK alliance.
President Yoon Seok-yeol said at the meeting, "I attended the 70th anniversary ceremony of the US-ROK alliance in Utah last October and declared the date (October 12) as the US-ROK Alliance Day.
In response, Governor Spencer Cox said, "During the Korean War, approximately 20,150 soldiers died in the war to fight for the freedom of the Republic of Korea.
"As governor, I will spare no effort to strengthen not only Korea-Utah cooperation, but also the U.S.-Korea alliance," he said.
" In addition, on the same day, Governor Spencer Cox announced that the state capital, Salt Lake City, is the location of "Silicon Slopes," where approximately 330,000 startups are located.
President Yoon said, "Utah is growing into the next-generation startup capital of the United States, and has called for active entry of Korean companies into the state."
"As we are leading domestic innovation, we hope to deepen cooperation between Korea and Utah in this field."
