The survey results were released during the "Dialogue with the Future Generation" conducted with interns in 2018. The survey was conducted by the Korea Development Institute (KDI) and involved 331 experts and 1,000 ordinary citizens.
The survey was conducted on 331 people regarding "future dangers and concerns." 55.8% of the general public and 62.8% of experts cited "a decline in the productive population due to low birth rates and an aging society" as the biggest concern.
In terms of personal concerns, 75.5% of experts and 53.6% of the general public cited "increasing burden of supporting dependents due to low birth rates and an aging population, and worries about retirement."
On the other hand, when it comes to external risk factors, 53.2% of experts cited "changes in the external trade environment" such as restructuring of supply chains and green trade protectionism, while 17.2% cited "the deepening of the global climate change issue."
Among the general public, 32.5% cited "geopolitical uncertainty," while 31.7% cited "the worsening global climate change issue."
