"That day will be the day that the North Korean regime ends," he said. "The false peace we hope for from the enemy's goodwill is nothing but a mirage," he said.
"The only way to maintain peace is to strengthen our strength so that we will not be underestimated," he said. President Yoon presided over the "Armed Forces Day" commemoration ceremony, marking the 76th anniversary of the founding of the army, at Seoul Airport that day.
President Yoon said, "The Korean military is carrying out the important mission of protecting the nation and its people by resolutely confronting the repeated threats and provocations from North Korea."
"The tanks, self-propelled guns and air defense weapons we have made have been sent across Asia to Europe and the Middle East,
He also encouraged North Korea, saying, "You are only dreaming of the succession of power, ignoring the miserable lives of the people, and threatening us with nuclear weapons and missiles.
"They have launched low-level provocations such as garbage balloons and GPS-disrupting attacks, and to top it off, they are even denying unification by advocating the 'two hostile states' theory," he said.
He continued, "It is now time for the North Korean regime to break away from the delusion that nuclear weapons will protect them," and "Our government will continue to work to strengthen the ROK-U.S.-Japan Security Consultative Council based on the strong ROK-U.S. alliance."
"We will further strengthen our capabilities, work closely with the international community, and further solidify our security posture," he said.
