Trash balloon from North Korea contains ”heat timer” and catches fire on apartment roof = South Korea
A garbage balloon sent by North Korea fell on the roof of an apartment building in Namyangju, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, sparking a fire that was put out within 22 minutes.
According to fire authorities on the 4th, a garbage balloon fell on the roof of a 16-story apartment building in Namyangju at around 11:30 a.m. that day and caught fire.
Firefighters who responded to a call from a resident reporting a fire extinguished the fire in about 20 minutes after receiving the call.
Ash remained on some parts of the roof, but the fire was fully extinguished by about 11:51 a.m. Police and fire officials said they found remnants of trash balloons around the roof, including paper and pieces of broken plastic.
The cause of the fire is believed to be a heating timer attached to the balloon, which acted as an explosive, catching fire along with the contents of the garbage balloon.
This is the first time that a fire has been caused by a trash balloon sent by North Korea.
