According to police and fire officials, on the 4th, at around 6:49 a.m., a fire broke out at a building in Jinbu-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun.
A 119 call was made reporting that two foreign workers had collapsed inside Neil House. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found two people, a Thai man named A (64) and a man of the same nationality named B (56).
The animal was found already dead inside the greenhouse. It was also discovered that the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) heating equipment inside was still on.
According to the military and police, Mr. A and Mr. B are believed to have been a married couple and have been confirmed to not be foreign seasonal workers under the control of the military.
The farm owner had temporarily employed the two for the onion harvest, which began in the middle of last month. A and B entered Korea about 10 years ago and have been in violation of their visa status.
The police believe that the victims died of carbon monoxide poisoning after turning on the heater in a greenhouse and falling asleep.
We are investigating.
