Prior to this, Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, said during a campaign to support the by-election of Ganghwa County Governor in Incheon, "If you can't do your job properly, put your soul into the election.
"If the situation is so serious that we cannot wait for elections, we should pull the plug on it even if it is mid-way, that is democracy and politics of the cause."
Han said the Democratic Party and the Fatherland Reform Party will field a single candidate in the by-election for Geumjeong District mayor.
